TIP: Getting the most out of the Fan Fair® Hall

(A BIG thanks to Kris in our Events Dept. for outlining all this helpful info about the Hall!)

About the Greased Lightning® Fan Fair® Hall

The Greased Lightning® Fan Fair® Hall is THE ultimate experience for fans – your chance to get autographs and photos with some of Country Music’s celebrities!  So, what do you need to know so you don’t walk around like a sad, confused little puppy while everyone else is having the time of their life?  Check it!

Admittance
Venue admittance to the Greased Lightning® Fan Fair® Hall in INCLUDED in Four-day Tickets!  Woohoo!  This year, the Hall will also be open to the public Saturday and Sunday.  If you don’t have Four-day Tickets but want to access the Hall, hit up the Info Booth inside the Nashville Convention Center (601 Commerce) for passes.  Price is $15.  Cash only.  (Remember all 2010 event proceeds benefit music education and 2010 flood relief!)

Helpful Hints and Guidelines:

  • Wear comfortable shoes – sandals and flip flops are not recommended.  You’ll be slidin’ and glidin’ while others are whizzin’ by!
  • Useful items to have on hand – a Sharpie (for autographs), an item for stars to sign, a camera (with extra batteries in case you run out of power), a map of the Fan Fair® Hall and a bag to carry all of your personal items.
  • Three survival items to have – your ID, a Four-day ticket or daily pass (Sat-Sun) to get inside, and cash/credit card
  • A bonus survival item to bring with you is a good attitude
  • Don’t ever run, push or shove – both for safety reasons and out of courtesy to your fellow fans!
  • Provide only one item for an artist sign. (The Hall is a greed-free zone, Chuck!)
  • Remember that the CMA Event Staff are your friends and helpers.  Use ‘em for their expertise.  Ask questions, as they’re there to help make your experience great!

The Biggest Question…and the Answer!

Q: How do I obtain autographs?

A: Most of the Exhibit Booths use a ticket system.  Note: Not ALL exhibitors use this system, but most do.  As in life, there are few absolutes.

With that in mind, here are a few helpful hints to help you meet some of your favorite stars!

  1. Find out the Artist Signing Schedule in advance by texting SCHEDULE to 66937.  This will ensure you’re on the text distribution list to get Hall updates.  Note that all details, including artists and signing times are always subject to change.
  2. Determine which artists you want to meet each day and the location of the booth they are signing in on the Fan Fair® Hall Map.
  3. The Fan Fair® Hall is located in the Nashville Convention Center.  The building opens at 8:30 a.m. each day.  Some fans choose to line up outside the building much earlier than that to get an autograph.  Building admittance is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  4. Once building doors open at 8:30 a.m., fans are lined up inside the building to enter the Fan Fair® Hall (bottom level of Nashville Convention Center).
  5. The doors to the actual Fan Fair® Hall open at 10:00 a.m.  Fans are REALLY excited to get an autograph.  However, running, pushing and shoving is not permitted.  Please respect your fellow attendees.
  6. Check with the Exhibit Booths to confirm signing times and to see if there are any specific instructions.  Unless otherwise communicated, tickets to artist signings are given out on the day Artist is signing when doors open.  (Again, there are no absolutes!)
  7. Most exhibitors operate using a ticket system to meet artists.  A ticket is a GUARANTEE that you will meet the artist – as long as you show up during the specified signing time.  A limited number of tickets are handed out at each booth, so you need to create a plan in order to collect tickets at multiple booths.
  8. Only one ticket will be given out to a person at a booth.  Fans may not collect additional tickets for companions.
  9. Grab & Go – Fans can literally “grab” a ticket to see their Artist of choosing and “Go” do something else.  What a great thing!  There are so many things to do and see in all parts of the CMA Music Festival.  A ticket provides fans freedom to experience other parts of Music Fest while waiting for your artist to arrive.
  10. Keep in mind that artist schedules are quite full during CMA Music Festival week and thus some artists do not have a long period of time available for their autograph times.  Unfortunately not everyone will get an autograph.  But still make plans to come by the exhibit to wave to your favorite artists and take their picture.  You’ll have a great time no matter what!
  11. If all the tickets are given out before you arrive at the booth, you may have an option to get into a Hopeful Line.  Fans are welcome to stand in the Hopeful Line for their favorite artist; however note there is NEVER a guarantee that folks in these lines will get to the meet the artist.

5 More Reasons to Hit the Hall:

  1. There are lots of great entertaining booths with activities and free giveaways.
  2. Get a history lesson with great signs that tell the Fan Fair story!
  3. Check out the Durango® Acoustic Corner performance venue, broadcast by WSM-AM, with live shows daily and Q&A sessions with stars!
  4. New in 2010: The Country Network presents the CMA Skype Lounge! Not all artists are in Nashville for the Fest, but the CMA Skype Lounge lets fans and artists connect in a whole new way.  Learn more and get tickets at The Country Network Booth (#235).
  5. It’s air conditioned.  Trust us: it’s reason enough! J

Knowing these great things will definitely enhance your Fan Fair® Hall experience – and your CMA Music Festival vacation overall.  Have any other questions?  Any vets out there want to share some helpful hints?

We can’t wait to see y’all!  Only 15 more days!

  1. Yeah, loved the Hall experience last year. I wasn’t expecting too much as I wasn’t particularly interested in queueing for autographs but managed to meet personal favourites Michael Peterson and John Arthur Martinez simply by chance!!

Really looking forward to popping in and out this year – it’s a great place to cool down!! And Riders in the Sky have a stall – wah-hoo!!

  2. It will be my fifth time in Nashville for the fan fair. In Italy we don’t have such a beautiful festival.
I have great memories of past years : photos with Jason Aldean, Chuck Wicks, Emerson Drive, Joe Nichols, Chris Young. and this year??
    I HOPE BILLY CURRINGTON!

      • This will be mine and my Mom’s 5th year coming. We’ve made it our girls week. Billy Currington is one I’d love to meet also. He’s such a cutie. Wouldn’t it be cool if Keith Urban actually signed. My Mom and I would totally freak out. It would have to be a camp out night for tickets. Can’t wait to see everyone there. We leave in 12 days!!!

      • HI
Is there a APP for CMAfest, I swear I saw somewhere that there is one. I sure there was a hard copy schedule provided. There are so many things going on in addition to the official CMA events, my head is spinning! I started a calendar weeks ago.

The online schedule is all color and hard to print out.

  3. The hall is always fun. I have scrapbooks full of pictures that I’ve snapped by doing walk bys of the various booths. Caught Luke Bryan by chance last year on Sunday afternoon. Very cool !

  4. I’m sooooo Stoked to be attending the fest this year with my husband. this will be our 1st vacation together (alone). We have 3 gorgeous babies that r usually right by our sides. I’m hoping & praying for a chance to meet sum stars. anyone have any tips?

  5. I am soooo excited!! Last year was my first time an had a blast!! Ofc, I didn’t know I was going til a few days before and got there late on Thursday, so didn’t even get to try for a ticket for my faaaaaaavorite singer, Reba!! Waited 5 hours in hopefuls line, let a cute little kid go in front of me then was NEXT in line, literally to go meet Reba when it ended :( I was devastated! I know it was the hopefuls line, but still! This year, I HAVE to meet her…I sure hope I do anyway! Seen her in concert 17 times and would go more, but, um, concerts cost $$ :) . Anyhoo, thanks for the tips!!

  6. This is my first time at CMA Fest and Fan Fair and I have four day passes. Needless to say, I’m completely excited. However, I was wondering since I have the four day pass with Greased Lightening do I still need to get the tickets in order to guaranteed that I’ll meet the artist or does my Four Day Pass do that for me? I pretty sure I don’t completely understand how the system works. Thanks for any help I appreciate it.

    • The 4 day pass gets you no tickets for autographs. Unfortunately you have to get in line. A bummer. I wish it did.

  7. I would absolutely love to meet Miranda Lambert but I heard she’s never signed b4. :( My kids want me to meet Carrie Underwood or Laura Bell Bundy (ofcourse I have 2 young boys). Im just hoping for anything great!! Can’t wait to see you in 13 days YeeeeeeeHawwwww!!

    • If Carrie is there, be careful trying to get a ticket. No matter how many times they say don’t run or push, people are too excited to listen. Good luck!

  8. Sounds like a lot has changed/improved since my husband and I were there last…many years ago! We are so looking forward to going again with our girls and future son-in-law!!!

  9. This is our 1st time as well but from what I understand you need a ticket to have a guaranteed meet n greet! Hope we get some!!

SO CANT WAIT IM SO WAY PAST BEYOND EXCITED See Everyone Soon @ Cma Fest(=

  11. I really wish it wasn’t open to the public on saturday and sunday. It’s crowded enough without that. But this will be my third year and I will have a good time no matter what.

    • I dont think its fair to not want it open to the public. I have a one night ticket for sunday. I plan on paying my $15 to be able to get in to the hall. Sometimes having the money for 4 day passes just isnt available at the time. I think its awesome that the CMA Fest has thought of those of us who dont have 4 day passes. Just my opinion.

  12. this is my wife and I first time to cma. we have gotten our tickets last year. I really wanted to meet Eric Church. sorry he will not be there. hope to meet JMC!!!!!

  13. That is so true. Fan Fair ® Hall is worth visiting. Even if you’re only in the hopeful line, you can have the best time of your life. So I had. 2008 was my first CMA fest, even my first time in the States. I’ve seen so many great artists and met some. For 20 years Alan Jackson is my No1. I was just in his hopeful line, but I was lucky enough to meet him after all that. My dream came true. I’ll be there this year again and I hope to meet alot again, I hope Alan Jackson, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and many more. Only a few days left. I’ll leave Germany in 10 days. I am so excited. See you all there, Doerthe from Germany

    • Have a safe trip and have fun! One tip, if you have someone you really want to meet, check and see if that singer is having a fan club party. Many have their parties this week in Nashville and may still have tickets. You have to join their fan clubs, so it will cost a little money, but it can be worth it. You may not get to actually meet them, but you will get a lot closer and learn more about them.

      • ThanksShirl! My weekly schedule is full packed with lots of great concerts, parties and friends to meet. I sure will have fun during this week.
I’m member to several fanclubs for years, but not able to join everyones party. This year there’ll be 4 – Chely Wright’s, Billy Yates’s, Dierks Bentley’s and the one I never want to miss – Joe Nichols party.
Only 8 more days left till I leave home. Counting down the days.

  14. Last year was my sister and I’s 10th year to Fan Fair/CMA Festival. It’s girls “week” out. We attended the last two at the fairgrounds before they moved it downtown. What a great move!!! We can’t wait for this year’s festival…WE ARE PUMPED!!!!!

  15. I wish that they would hand tickets out in a less dangerous manner. Even though your not supposed to run and shove people do and last year people got hurt. Taylor Swift’s team has it right and hands out tickets to the first 500 in line. Kudos to them :)

    • I agree, gave up on getting autographs after the year I waited patiently for hours and then was shoved into a column when the impatient people behind me decided they were more worthy of a autograph than I was

    • where do you wait in the taylor swift line at to be one of the first 500? is it outside the convention center or literally just the line in front of her booth? Im a first timer!

  16. My Mom and I are taking a girls trip down for the Festival! This is our first time!!! We are so excited and can’t wait to get there!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope we get to meet some of the artists!!!

  17. I am really excited to be there for my 12th Year. It is the best thing every. Hope everyone has an awesome time & gets to meet one of there favorites!!

  18. I cannot wait, I am SSSSOOOOOOOO excited my package arrive yesterday and I am so giddy! This is our first time and it is my and hubby’s 20 year anniversary! So much to do and fun to be had!!!!!! All of the tips I have read are so helpful to a music fest newbie

  19. Gosh I have to meet carrie! I’m such a big fan and i also think Mike Fisher is the luckiest man in the world! haha

  20. My Best Advice I Have To Give Is Meet As Many New Not So Well Known Artists As Possiable Because I Remember Meeting Alot Of Great New Artists Last Year And Have Become Good Friends With Some Of Them And A Few Have Gotten Big Also Suggest U Wait In A Few Long Lines To Meet Some Of The Bigger Names As Well(=
Im So Way Past Beyond Excited About Cma Fest This Year So Cant Wait Nashville Here I Come In 13 The Days(=

  21. My daughter and I are attending for the first time. We were a little scared right after the flood that we weren’t going to see Billy Currington and others since our hotel (The Gaylord) was flooded but with a little help we’ve found a place to stay and are really looking forward to hearing all of our favorite songs. Can’t wait to meet all of the other country music fans as well. Thanks for all that you do in making this festival a positive experience!!

  22. This is my sister and my first year attending, I can not tell you how much I appreciate the advice given. I was nervous about Fan Fair Hall and was going to bypass it until I read this. I just hope I can get my sister up early enough, I want to see and do so many things, this is my first vacation in 14 years!!!

    See you there!

  23. This will be my 9th Fan Fair, and we’re leaving Ohio in 11 days!! Hope I get some great autographs this year!! Is Brad Paisely signing? See everyone soon!!<3

  24. Thank you for this information. Hopefully it will help us catch a glimpse of Reba if she is signing autographs this year. My daughter, who has a disability, has been saving her own money for three years so she could attend Country Musical Festival. It is her dream to meet Reba and she is convinced that “Reba wants to talk to her.” It will be a fun time!

    • Debbie, have you checked the CMA Fest website for ADA information? Look under the tab INFO and then click on ADA ACCESS. There is a lot of very useful information there. It can be a daunting experience to take on CMA Fest with someone that has a disability, but there are quite a few services that help. Also, there are quite a few country stars that really care about those who live with those difficult circumstances and try to make it as easy as possible to meet them. Joe Nichols and Trace Adkins have been really great in the past. God bless and have a great time!

  25. Last yr was mine and my husband first time attending we went for our anniversary. We will be returning this yr and had been saving $ since Jan and it was all stolen from our house about 2 weeks ago…. so now we are starting all over raising the money back up…….. I’m determined to come this yr lol and hoping to maybe meet Jason Aldean.

  26. Was just wondering if there was any news on Taylor Swift being at the CMA Fest this year. We were there in 2007 and saw her but we are taking our children, who are 8 and 9 years old and dearly love Taylor, withus this year and they are joping she will be there. I haven’t seen anything anywhere mentioning that she will be attending.

  27. I am attending the CMA Fest, but mostly fan club parties. This will be my 6th year. It is so hard to meet your favorite super star, unless you are at the doors when they open at 10:00 and you get that GOLDEN TICKET to meet them. The cut off line is short on some, and I can’t stand all day in a hopeful line to meet them and miss out on others. I like enjoying seeing everyone there. Every year was getting less and less artist though. I am hoping that will change in the next few years. It is more up and coming artist there now. Why can’t you get REBA, ALAN, GARTH, SARA, MARTINA, TIM, FAITH, KEITH, BRAD, MIRANDA, BLAKE, GEORGE, TANYA, LORETTA and some of the greats to sign. Once in a lifetime isn’t enough when they are suppose to do it for the fans. That is what it is all about….FAN’s getting to meet their favorite artist, right? I know Reba did it last year and so did Alan and Sara, but once isn’t enough to me. I haven’t been able to meet any of them, except a few at fan club parties. Some of the fan club parties don’t even allow you to meet the artist.
I know whatever happens, it will be a great week. Awesome music and great friends make it worth the trip.

  28. Ever since the orginal “Fan Fair ” began, I have always wanted to be here for the event. Also I wanted to spend some time in Nashville and enjoy the Listening Rooms. So..that all being on my “Bucket List” I arrived in Nashville in my Motor Home in April and plan on staying the entire summer, part of the fall. I may never leave! I went to the Blue Bird last night and enjoyed , Paul Overstreet, Deanna Bryant, Mike Reid, Kib Mo and Jen Foster. These are all song writers for those ove you that don’t no who they are, you would for sure know the hits they have wrote for Kieth Urban, Blake Shelton, Allison Krauss, Ronnie Milsap and Heidi Newfeldt to name a few. This is a side of Nashville that I would have never experienced if I was a tourist on a short trip. While I don’t really care about Autographs I do like to get photos! In addition, I have been lucky to be able to volunteer during the flood and experience what an amazing people live here in Middle Tennessee. I’m so excited that I will be honored to volunteer with Musicians on Call for the rest of my visit to Music City. Like I said I may never leave. I agree with the fan that posted the need for some of Country Music Legends to keep in touch with the fans that made them legends! Hope to meet some of you here. Oh I forgot, I’m going to the Softball game, The Musicians on Call Benefit Fashion Show at the Wildhorse, and the CMT Music Awards. Also meeting up with a bunch of Lee Ann Womacks fan club members for dinner. Question, I was told that the “map” of booth locations and signing schedules would be posted here on the CMA website by now, is that true? Hugs to you all!

  29. We are planning on getting the 4day tickets and are really looking forward to seeing The Judds. They are performing on Thursday 6/10 at 10am, and my friend is soo looking forward to the opportunity for Wynonna’s autograph. We even went onto their webpage to look up info about the concert. And here is the weird thing. They take the stage at 10am and the autograph is scheduled for later that day in the Hall at 1pm, but here is the weird part. They say they give out the autograph tickets at 10am at the hall. Ummm, aren’t we all (the fans) going to be at Riverfront Park watching the show? By the time we could get over to the Hall for autograph tickets, I imagine they would all be gone. Has anyone else noticed this?

    • Hi Erin- Not everybody will be at Riverfront Park. If the booth hosting The Judds is indeed giving out autograph tickets at 10AM, one of you will want to be there to try to get a ticket. Note, however, that only 1 ticket/person is allowed.

Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

      • So what you are saying is this:
If I am a fan of the Judds I have to chose between seeing the concert or getting the autograph
        OR
after arranging time off and travel and expenses to spend time with a good friend at a great music fest, we then DON’T spend most of the day together so that one can tell the other about the great concert they missed and the other can show off the autograph and picture the other DIDN’T’ get with Wynonna. hmmm, doesn’t that sound like fun! might have to rethink the 4 day pass. i really just wanted to enjoy the music with a friend who loves the Judds.

Of course the reasonable thing would be for the organizers to give out the autograph tickets either at the concert or at the Hall after the concert is over and fans have had the opportunity to get to there.

      • Well, Erin, what can I tell you? You’ve ID’d a flaw in the system: there’s simply too much awesomeness happening at the Festival, and the schedule is SO full, that it’s impossible to do everything! But I do have some pointers:

        1. You can have a friend who doesn’t necessarily have to see The Judds perform go to the Fan Fair Hall to try to claim a ticket for your friend who is a diehard Wynonna fan.

        2. If there’s not a third friend who could potentially fetch an autograph ticket whilst you and your friend watch the show, then one of you could be at the Hall right at 10:00 to go inside, get a ticket and then make your way to Riverfront to see the show. At most, one of you would potentially miss 10-15 minutes of the performance, but you’d get a chance to perhaps get an autograph.

Either way, please don’t think you wouldn’t get to spend the majority of the day together, because in actuality your time apart would be quite minimal.

Hope this helps! Ask any other questions you have. We’re here to help!

        Thanks,
        C

  30. I’m coming all the way from the UK for my first CMA Fest and I’m SO looking forward to the Fan Fair! Does anyone know if Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert or Kellie Pickler are going to be signing at the Fan Fair or anywhere else? I will do anything to meet them! I didn’t get a meet & greet with Taylor Swift when she came to London, so I’m hoping to get lucky in Nashville! Any other advice would be much appreciated. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

  31. As first timers of this event, my real question is…do people really camp out overnight for a chance to get a ticket to the Fan Fair autograph signing? My 15 year old daughter is a huge country music fan, but I’m not sure about that kind of dedication for a chance to meet the artist. As awesome as that sounds, I’m afraid she’d poop out before all the music begins. I’ve read all the blogs trying to figure out a strategy. Any other helpful hints on how to get the most out of this event would be appreciated. We are very excited!

  32. When Will The Signing Times Be Posted Online Or When Will They Be Texted
I Know Some Of The Signing Times But Non Have Been Posted On The Cma Fest Website Or Have Been Texted To Me Just Wondering Since CMA FEST Is 7 Days Away(=

    • Hi Ashley- We cannot vouch for independent ticket brokers. The only box office we can know for certain is offering legitimate ticket inventory is the CMA Music Festival Box Office (1-800-CMA-FEST; 1-800-262-3378). Gold Circle seats have been long sold out from our box office, however. Good luck!

  33. This will be my 5th year and I can’t wait. Last year I lost my job and could only stay a couple days through the kindness of a friend, but this year I’ll be there all week. I’m so excited!

  34. I really want to see/meet David Nail. Does anyone know if he will be making an appearance at the festival? I think he is performing Wednesday before the awards.

  35. Does anyone know what time the individual fan fair tickets the $15.00 tickets go on sale on Friday? I know they say that are at the cash only booth but never say what time they go on sale does that mean they go on sale when the convention center opens?

    • Nope. Just find the secret location and join us! Get there quick to be sure you get in and stake out a great spot to watch the show!

See you next week, Ashley. Safe travels!

  36. This will be my first year attending. I can’t wait to experience Fan Fair Hall. I really hope that I get to meet Kellie Pickler, Jason Aldean, and Billy Currington!!

  37. How do we know which artists require tickets to meet them and how do we know where and when to get these tickets. First timer here, I’m very confused, please someone respond? I HAVE to see Rascal Flatts. I know I have to get a $15 ticket since I’m only an individual ticket holder but where do I get a ticket to see them specifically? Also do the $15 tickets go on sale when the convention center opens? Someone please help.

  38. Me and my husband have 4-day tickets and this is our 3rd year we are SO excited. Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago he began not feeling well, ended up in ICU for a week … long story short, he has clots in both lungs and his right leg. We have been “cleared by his doctor” to go though his doctor stressed “taking it easy” which is difficult to do at a 4 day fest. I was so bummed because I just called to attempt to purchase a handicap parking pass and they are all SOLD OUT and they could offer me NO information about handicap access at Riverfront. Though he does not look “handicap” (he is 38 and healthy until this), he has a serious medical condition and I was just trying to gain some additional information. I was a little disappointed by the amount information that was available via 1800CMAFEST and was hoping someone on here might offer me some tips.

    • Sorry I didn’t use the reply button to answer your question but did a separate comment. I’m writing this because you may have checked to be notified if someone replies. Check out my answers. I hope it helps. Hopefully they didn’t change these services. Good luck!

  39. Hi Kim. You can park at a lot in town and take the handicap shuttle around town and to the stadium. If you get up early, there is a lot…E I believe, that is first come first serve for parking. Then you can take a shuttle back to town. The drivers are great! Riverfront has been mobbed since they opened it to the public, but there is at least one covered handicapped platform at the top of the hill. Last year there was a second one all the way to the left of the venue. Also, 4 day ticket holders get let in first. If you want to attend the Riverfront concerts, my suggestion is that you get there early, like 8:30 or so and ask if there is a separate line. I would bring a doctor’s note with his condition only because you don’t have “handicap” tickets. More info is on the FAQ section under INFO(at top of page) of CMAfest.com. I hope this helps. Have a great time and God bless.

  40. Oh Kim, one last thing, if one of the workers there can’t help you, ask for supervisors. We have had minor problems in the past, mostly at the stadium, and when we spoke to a supervisor things were taken care of quickly and in a way that we were very satisfied. Sometimes the workers don’t always know all the protocols.

  41. I’m super psyched! This is my high school graduation present from my parents and I’m so excited! I’m going to try super hard to meet Rascal Flatts! I’ve been obsessed with them since 4th grade, and having a chance to meet them is freaking me out!! Hahaha oh my goodness I cannot wait!!

  42. I was wondering, when it comes to the fan fair (where everyone is signing autographs), if you need a ticket to get a good photo of your favorite stars. I don’t really care to spend my time waiting in line or killing myself to get a ticket. I would just like to get a picture of my favorite singers (not with myself) and go. Can anyone offer any advice? I do have a 4 day pass.

    • You can absolutely take pictures of your favorite stars WITHOUT a ticket – which is what we always do. Like you, I am not interested in standing in line for hours to get a ticket to get an autograph and “personally meet them” but I do like to get in “on the action”, take some photos, etc. and you can absolutely do that without a ticket. Just check the autograph schedule and then you will know when your favorite stars will be at their respective booths. Have a great time!
