We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite patriotic songs sung by some amazingly talented Country artists. Enjoy!
“God Bless the USA” – Lee Greenwood
Lee Greenwood performed this moving song at the 2013 CMA Music Festival. It is sometimes referred to as the unofficial National Anthem, and the lyrics clearly explain why. It’s hard for anyone to listen to this powerful song and not feel “proud to be an American!”
“Have You Forgotten” – Darryl Worley
It’s hard to find a more patriotic Country artist than Darryl Worley. Darryl first played this powerful song on the Grand Ole Opry stage. Since then he has even performed for the soldiers in Afghanistan. We loved having him on the Riverfront stage at this year’s CMA Music Festival!
“If You’re Reading This” – Tim McGraw
In this song, Tim McGraw tells the story is of a soldier that has passed on, and his wishes on how he’d like to be remembered. This emotional song can make any listener a little misty.
“American Child” – Phil Vassar
Phil wrote this wonderfully patriotic song about his own daughter. The tune honors the sacifice of a grandfather killed in combat while Phil counts his own blessings. Phil has been part of many of our CMA events including the CMA Songwriters Series (pictured above).
“Independence Day” – Martina McBride
While this song is not directly related to the Fourth of July, it tells the story of a woman who finally gains the independence she deserves. We love it almost as much as we love Martina!
Here are some other patriot songs we love:
“Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” – Toby Keith
“Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” – Alan Jackson
“Arlington” – Trace Adkins
“Only in America” – Brooks and Dunn
“American Soldier” – Toby Keith
“Letters From Home” – John Michael Montgomery
“Some Gave All” – Billy Ray Cyrus
