CMA Celebrates 10th Anniversary of the CMA Music Festival TV Special

We wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” by reliving some of the most memorable moments of the Festival over the past 10 years.

Let’s start with the FIRST ever CMA Music Festival television special.

2004
Hank Williams Jr. opens the show by introducing the first performance – Brooks & Dunn with the raucous “Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl.”

2005
Carrie Underwood wins American Idol and performs for the first time on the main stage at the Festival a few months after her victory.

2006
CMA’s Board of Directors created the Keep the Music Playing program to benefit music education in metro Nashville public schools on behalf of the artists who perform and make appearances each year at CMA Music Festival for free.

“Idol” meets idol when Kelly Clarkson takes the stage with Reba McEntire to perform “Because of You”.

Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley stick around (and so did tens of thousands of fans!) past 1:00 AM to finish their sets after strong storms delayed the nightly concerts.

2012
Little Big Town invites contest winners to ride on boats in the CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Parade.

Lady Antebellum cuts the ribbon to open the new and improved AT&T U-verse Fan Fair X in the brand-new Music City Center.

This Monday night will continue to fill the CMA Fest history books with tons of memorable TV moments, with three hours of jaw-dropping surprises, special guest collaborations, friendly competitions and so much more!
